An Application Development Workshop for Androids

The DTU IT Department held an “Application Development Workshop for Androids” on October 3rd. Attendees included Mr. Truong Tien Vu, Dean of IT, Mr. Dang Hoang Long, the Danang Branch Director of the Global Cybersoft Company (QCS) and IT faculty, staff, lecturers and students.

Opening the workshop, Mr. Truong Tien Vu said: “Nowadays, QCS is one of the leading IT solution and software providers in Vietnam. QCS and the IT department have enjoyed a close relationship for more than a year now. Since our agreement was signed on July 30th, 2012, we have worked together to launch several important new projects. We have also taken students to visit QCS, provided them with internship opportunities, and held workshops and recruitment programs. We have organized this workshop to orientate IT students in ways to develop applications for the Android operating system, and mobile devices in general. Currently, this is one of the latest trends in IT today.” 
 
 
Mr. Nguyen Bon, answers students’ questions 
 
Mr. Nguyen Bon, a software engineer at the Global Cybersoft Company, gave an overview of the Android operating system, its implementation, applications, functionality and structure, as well as the pre-requisite programming skills. He then thoroughly answered questions from the students.
 
At the workshop, the Global Cybersoft Company also offered some recruitment and internship opportunities. Tran Tien, an IT student said: “The knowledge I gained from this workshop has helped me to better understand the advantages of programming mobile devices. I learned about the system, the development cycle and ways of creating Android applications. Currently, I am researching jobs at several IT companies to find a suitable one for an internship and a career on graduation.”
 
The workshop was highlighted by the “Catchphrase Game”, with some interesting prizes. The new knowledge and skills gained at the workshop motivated DTU students to further pursue their passion for programming and technology.
