DTU’s New Book Collection “In Response to Our Nation’s Appeal”

DTU held a press conference on March 29th to introduce the book collection entitled “In Response to the Nation’s appeal”. The local media, reporters and members of the Student Movement from southern cities were invited to the event.

Each book is categorized by topic into groups such as Research, History, Memoirs, Novels and so on. The collection is funded by Mr. Le Cong Co, DTU Chairman and Rector, who was the leader of Student Movement of Central Vietnam until 1975. Although this movement had a significant impact on the reunification of Vietnam, little has been written about is so far.

He said: “As a member of the Student Movement until 1975, I thought that I should do something to commemorate those who fought for our nation’s independence. This new book collection is something for both the older and younger generations to read, remember and learn from today”.

Some newly published books

Mr. Ho Duy Le said: “The Student Movement is like a mysterious treasure that needs to be preserved to maintain our social values. I believe that the more we discover, the more books we can add to the collection”.

The first four books, “Nam thang dang nguoi” (by Le Cong Co), “Khong co gi troi di mat” (by Ho Duy Le), “Tren dinh thanh xuan” (by Vu Hoai) and “Duoi anh hoa chau” (by Hoang Phu Ngoc Phan) were presented to the participants. The number of books in the collection is expected to rise to thirty by 2015, on the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of the Southern Liberation.
