On 12th January, 2011, the DTU Youth Union collaborated with the Danang Youth Association to organize a blood donation campaign to ease the shortage at local Danang hospitals.
More than 500 DTU students and lecturers gave over 400 units of blood. Mr. Pham Dang Quang, Secretary of the DTU Youth Union said “Every year, the demand for blood used in hospitals increases significantly. Many patients with serious diseases and injuries need blood transfusions. As this is the first blood donation of 2011, hopefully it will serve as a small Lunar New Year gift from us”.
Many students were willing to donate blood
A core group of about 20 DTU lecturers, staff and students have volunteered to be the first ones to give blood in 2011.
